Southampton hope to sign Justin Bijlow
Feyenoord goalkeeper Justin Bijlow will likely complete a move to the Premier League before transfer deadline day, as the 26-year-old Dutch international goalkeeper will join Southampton in a deal worth a reported 13 million euros. The 6 foot 2 shot stopper has eight caps for his country, and has appeared over 104 times for Feyenoord, helping his boyhood club to two Eredivisie titles in 2016-17 and 2022-23.
Last season the keeper only appeared 17 times for Feyenoord's first team and had slipped down the pecking order, and Bijlow is hopeful that regular first-team football will improve his opportunity for international recognition. Of his eight caps, six of them were in 2021 and a further two followed in 2023.
To grab the first team goalkeeper jersey will mean dislodging Gavin Bazunu from the number 1 spot, and that is no mean feat as the Irishman has been a revelation since making his debut.
The goalkeeper has one year remaining on his contract at the De Kuip club, and also has some other options as Vitesse are believed to be interested in a loan deal. Southampton are hopeful that a deal will be wrapped up this week.
