Alan Shearer praises Man Utd star after Aston Villa draw

Newcastle United legend Alan Shearer has heaped praise on Jonny Evans following Manchester United's goalless draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League.

The Red Devils went winless for the fifth game running after a goalless draw at Villa Park. Jonny Evans was handed the man of the match after winning 11 out of his 12 duels alongside 100 percent tackles.

While picking his Team of the Week, Shearer heaped praise on Evans and said that he had a very solid game as he shut out the threat from Aston Villa's attack.

He said on Premier League's official website: "A very solid game. Was Man Utd’s best defender as they shut out a potent Aston Villa attack."

The draw sees United remain in the 14th spot in the Premier League and it remains to be seen whether manager Erik ten Hag will stay in the job.

There is a meeting within the hierarchy on Tuesday afternoon and this could be crucial to deciding Ten Hag's future as the United head coach.
