Wayne Rooney breaks silence after Man Utd's FA Cup exit
Manchester United legend Wayne Rooney has expressed his disappointment after the Red Devils bowed out of the FA Cup against Fulham on Sunday.
The Mancunian giants had a tricky game against the Cottagers in the fifth round and they were unable to progress after a penalty shoot-out loss.
Speaking after the game, Rooney said that the season has been very disappointing for United and they missed out on a huge opportunity.
He said: "It sums up their season really. Very disappointing really. With the amount of top teams already out of the competition, it was a great opportunity for Man Utd. They've fallen short, it was two bad penalties."
United were considered as one of the potential favourites for the FA Cup crown, but they won't be in the last eight after losing to Fulham.
The Red Devils have no time to ponder over the outcome, considering they have a huge European game against Real Sociedad on Thursday.
United face Sociedad on the road in the first leg of the round of 16. Given their recent form, it won't be an easy challenge against Sociedad.
