Arsenal in 'very advanced' talks to sign Spanish star?

Arsenal are reportedly in very advanced talks to sign Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer.

The London heavyweights are expected to bolster their defensive midfield department. Jorginho and Thomas Partey have three months left on their contracts and are likely to leave on free transfers.

Zubimendi has been the Gunners' priority target for some time and Sport claim that the club are in very advanced negotiations to seal his transfer.

The Spaniard has a release clause worth €60m in his deal. Arsenal are likely to pay a similar fee to bring him to the Emirates Stadium this summer.

Liverpool have also been linked with his services. The Reds agreed to sign the midfielder last summer, but he made a U-turn and stayed put.

The Merseyside giants are unlikely to return for him, considering Arsenal are on the cusp of agreeing personal terms with the Spaniard.

Aside from a holding midfielder, Arsenal are expected to land a marquee striker, a back-up goalkeeper and a versatile winger this summer.
