Arsenal open contract talks with 24yo star

Arsenal have opened contract talks with defender William Saliba amid interest from Real Madrid in signing him, as per The Athletic.

The 24-year-old made his first-team debut for the Gunners three years ago and has since developed into one of the best centre-backs in the world.

His progress has been closely monitored by Los Blancos and reports claim that the European giants have been speaking with his entourage.

Arsenal are aware of the same and the club have now opened negotiations over a renewal. New sporting director Andrea Berta is involved.

Saliba is happy with the progress made with the Gunners, but he will demand a reasonable hike on his wages amid strong Madrid interest.

Aside from the Frenchman, Arsenal are also in contact with the representatives of Bukayo Saka over a new long-term deal.

Saka is not attracting interest from any elite club at the moment, but Arsenal are determined to reward him with an improved contract soon.
