Chelsea want to sign Lyon star to replace Jadon Sancho

Chelsea are keen on signing Lyon winger Malick Fofana as a replacement for Jadon Sancho, according to journalist David Ornstein.

The Blues recently decided against purchasing Sancho from Manchester United after his loan stint. They had an obligation to buy, but cancelled the agreement by paying a £5 million penalty fee.

The club are now eyeing a potential replacement on the left wing and Ornstein reports that they have made an enquiry for Fofana, who bagged 11 goals and six assists for Les Gones last season.

The Belgian is regarded as one of the best emerging wingers in the French top-flight and Lyon could demand a significant fee for his potential exit.

With another three years remaining on his contract, the Ligue 1 giants could hold out for at least €50 million to part ways with the talented starlet.

Chelsea recently failed with multiple bids to land Jamie Gittens from Borussia Dortmund. They remain keen on signing him as well.
