Gyokeres to Arsenal deal risks collapse over bonuses

Gyokeres move risks collapse?

Arsenal's long awaited move to sign Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting Lisbon is on the verge of a shocking collapse after the Portuguese club - who appeared to be ready to let the Swedish striker leave after Gyokeres' agent agreed to reduce his commission - informed the Gunners that the 10 million euro bonus structure must be changed. It is understood Sporting want the 10 million guaranteed should Arsenal be guaranteed qualification to the Champions League for the next two years.

However, Arsenal have requested that the structure be paid over four years, and that the first two installments are paid based upon Champions League qualification, whilst the final two depend on a Premier League title and a Champions League title.

Sporting are said to be ready to pull the plug on the deal, despite representatives of both clubs and the player met on Monday at London Colney.

Gyokeres has already agreed personal terms and has supposedly undergone a successful medical, and the last steps to be agreed are simply bonus structure. However, Sporting directors reportedly left North London unable to reach an agreement, leaving Arsenal sporting director Andrea Berta furious.

It is hoped that a deal could still be reached and talks will reportedly recommence today, Tuesday 15th July.
