Medical today: Man Utd on the cusp of signing £71m star

Manchester United are reportedly on the cusp of signing Bryan Mbeumo from Brentford this summer.

The Red Devils have been in constant talks with Brentford for the Cameroonian, and they have eventually secured an agreement.

The 25-year-old will join the club for an initial package of £65 million with a further £6m in add-ons. He is now undergoing a medical.

Fabrizio Romano confirmed the news on his YouTube channel and there is a possibility that United could announce the deal on Sunday.

United started their pre-season campaign against Leeds United in Stockholm today. They played out a goalless draw against their old rivals.

The club struggled in the final third with only four shots on target. The arrival of Mbeumo should provide a creative boost going forward.

Aside from the attacker, manager Ruben Amorim may also want a new centre-forward with Rasmus Hojlund continuing to misfire upfront.

They have been linked with Randal Kolo Muani in the last few hours.
