Newcastle chase Beckford

Newcastle are in the market for Leeds forward Jermaine Beckford. Leeds failed to be promoted from League One last weekend, and Beckford is desperate for a route out of the football league lower tiers.

Dennis Wise, assistant to Kevin Keegan at Newcastle, is reportedly a big fan of Beckford, 24, from his time at Leeds United as manager.

Now Newcastle have made an estimated £3 million offer for the Leeds frontman.

Beckford has bagged 20 goals this season for Leeds, and will be hot property this summer.
