Liverpool have free run at signing PL defender
Liverpool have a free run at signing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi with Chelsea looking at other options, according to The Telegraph.
The Blues recently suffered a huge setback with Levi Colwill picking up a knee injury. Despite this, they are not looking to re-sign Guehi from Palace.
The west London giants have a first refusal clause on the centre-back, but manager Enzo Maresca has his sights on pursuing a different target.
Hence, the Reds have a free run at signing Guehi if they can secure an agreement with Palace before the transfer window closes.
Palace are looking for at least 50 million pounds to part ways with their captain, but Liverpool are reluctant to pay more than 40 million pounds.
Fresh talks are likely to be held in the coming days and the Premier League champions may seek to negotiate a middle figure to seal the deal.
Arsenal were interested in landing Guehi from the Eagles earlier this summer, but the player turned them down due to limited game time.
