Real Madrid make bid for Palace midfielder Adam Wharton

Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso and his management team have opened discussions with Crystal Palace with regard to a summer transfer move for 21-year-old midfielder Adam Wharton. The England international is seen as one of the world's best young midfielders and Alonso is hopeful that a 50 million euro transfer can be signed and sealed before the transfer window closes on September 1st.
The surprise news will come as a major blow to Crystal Palace's supporters, who could still lose Marc Guehi to Liverpool this summer, and have recently learned that they will not be able to take part in the Europa League.
Wharton joined Palace in 2024 and has played 36 times in the Premier League, and prior to joining the Eagles he played for Blackburn Rovers in the Championship.
Real Madrid had considered a move for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, who later joined Arsenal after months of discussions with the Gunners' manager Mikel Arteta, but opted to not make a move and have now turned their attentions to signing Wharton.
