RB Leipzig have agreed a fee of £42 million to sign England under-21 international attacking midfielder Harvey Elliott. The 22-year-old is one of England under-21's most prolific players in recent years, and will move to Germany with the promise of regular first-team football, hopeful that full international honours will follow.

Liverpool informed Elliott that he would be allowed to leave after the 22-year-old requested a move in search of regular first-team football, despite having played 92 times in the Premier League since his arrival in 2019. However, Arne Slot could not promise Elliott games and he will head to RB Leipzig.

Red Bull will use the funds received from the sale of Benjamin Sesko to Manchester United to pay for Elliott, and the midfielder will sign a five-year deal worth around £150,000 a week.

Elliott has been an important utility player and it is understood Liverpool's former manager Jurgen Klopp played an important role in the deal, with discussions taking place between the two for several weeks. Klopp is currently RB's Head of Global Football.
