Marseille table bid for Chelsea defender

Benoit Badiashile news

Badiashile to leave Chelsea?

Chelsea defender Benoit Badiashile could be allowed to leave the club this summer, as the 24-year-old appears to be interested in a return to his home country of France to join Marseille. The Ligue 1 outfit are to match the 35 million euro pricetag Chelsea have placed on the 6 foot 4 centre-back, and the French international defender is ready for a move.

Badiashile arrived at Chelsea in 2023 from Monaco for 37 million euros, and played 34 times in the Premier League for the Stamford Bridge side, and was a member of the double winning side of last season winning the Europa Conference League and Club World Cup this past summer.

Marseille still have around 75 million euros to spend on new faces, and a defender is their absolute top priority before the closure of the transfer window.

Chelsea have recouped around £250 million from transfer sales this summer and are expected to still sign Alejandro Garnacho from Manchester United, but do need to somehow balance the books and more departures look inevitable. Enzo Maresca has been in talks with Badiashile and despite an injury to Levi Colwill, the Frenchman will still be allowed to depart.
