Man Utd & Tottenham want to sign former Chelsea man

Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur could go head-to-head to sign Atletico Madrid midfielder Conor Gallagher before the transfer deadline, according to Caught Offside.

The England international was linked with the Premier League duo last summer, but Chelsea decided to sanction his sale to Atletico instead.

Gallagher had a good debut campaign with the La Liga giants, but manager Diego Simeone has opened the door for his departure this summer.

Atletico want £40 million to part ways with the Blues graduate. Spurs have made the first move and could be willing to pay around £35 million.

United are expected to enter the race with manager Ruben Amorim said to be eyeing more control in the centre of the park this campaign.

Casemiro is no longer in the prime of his career while Manuel Ugarte has been poor since the beginning of the season. 

The Red Devils desperately need a new central midfielder in their ranks before the transfer window closes on Monday.
