Onana wanted pay rise at United

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana asked the club for a pay rise on his return this summer, according to The Athletic.

The Cameroon international had a poor 2024/25 campaign with the Red Devils, and he was guilty of making five errors leading to goals.

There was much speculation that he could be offloaded during the recent transfer window, but Onana made it clear that he won't be leaving.

It is now reported that Onana asked for a new contract with a pay rise on his return this summer. This did not go well with manager Ruben Amorim.

This could be a reason behind his reduced role at the start of the season.

Altay Bayindir has started all three Premier League games this term, while Onana only featured in the second round of the Carabao Cup against Grimsby Town.

With Senne Lammens having been signed on deadline day, there is a possibility that Onana could be completely out of contention.
