Liverpool confident of signing 25yo England star

Liverpool are increasingly confident of landing Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi on a free transfer next summer.

The Merseyside giants were on the cusp of signing the England international from the Eagles last summer, but the deal was blocked at the final hurdle.

The south London outfit decided to pull the plug on the proposed transfer after they could not find a suitable replacement before the window closed.

Guehi has since reintegrated with the squad. He plans to see out the remainder of the campaign with the Eagles before pursuing a free transfer next summer.

Manchester City and Real Madrid have recently entered the race for his services, but Football Insider claim that the Reds still have the upper hand.

The Reds agreed personal terms with the 25-year-old centre-back earlier this summer and they are pretty confident that he will choose to join them again.

Liverpool are in constant contact with the player's entourage to indicate that the defender continues to be highly valued by the club's hierarchy.
