Napoli favourites to sign Man Utd midfielder

Napoli are reportedly favourites to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo during the winter transfer window.

The England international was keen on leaving on loan over the summer, but United were reluctant to sanction his exit.

Mainoo has since been a regular substitute for the Red Devils, and Mirror claim that he could push for a new challenge in January.

The 20-year-old has been out of England contention since Thomas Tuchel took over as the head coach from Gareth Southgate.

Mainoo is desperate to make the England squad next summer and this could urge him to move on from the Red Devils in January.

Napoli failed with a loan proposal for Mainoo before landing Rasmus Hojlund from the Red Devils on a temporary basis.

The Serie A giants are expected to return for the midfielder at the turn of the year, but could face competition from English clubs.

Newcastle United and Aston Villa are keeping a close eye on him.
