Man Utd make €25m offer to sign Kees Smit

Manchester United have made an offer worth €25 million to sign AZ Alkmaar midfielder Kees Smit during the January transfer window, according to Fichajes.net.

The Red Devils are eager to bolster their midfield at the turn of the year and they have been exploring a solution. The club have now lodged an opening bid of €25m to purchase Smit from Alkmaar.

The 19-year-old has made a huge impression in his early career. He has registered two goals and four assists from 19 appearances in all competitions this season.

Smit is a central midfielder by trade but can operate in the number six and number 10 roles. He has completed 88 percent of his passes in the Eredivisie this term.

He has also excelled with high pressing and good work rate, and has made a stunning six recoveries per outing. The youngster has all the traits to become an elite player.

It remains to be seen whether Alkmaar accept the proposal. They could hold out for a higher fee, given competition from other elite clubs such as Liverpool among others.
