Man Utd ramp up interest in signing England star

Manchester United have ramped up their interest in signing Crystal Palace and English midfielder Adam Wharton ahead of Liverpool this summer.

The Red Devils are expected to bolster their midfield department in the summer after confirming the departure of Casemiro on a free transfer.

United had the option to extend Casemiro's deal for another 12 months, but they have made the choice to pursue a replacement instead.

Wharton is one of the top names on their radar and reports claim that they are ready to step up their pursuit amid their interest from the Reds.

Liverpool are also determined to sign a marquee holding midfielder, but United could be in a stronger position heading into June this year.

They have just jumped into the fourth spot in the Premier League which guarantees a spot in next season's Champions League campaign.

With a favourable schedule coming up, they have the opportunity to extend their advantage over the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool further.

Wharton is likely to give preference to a Champions League outfit.
