Arsenal favourites to sign Cameroonian striker

Arsenal are favourites to sign Bayer Leverkusen striker Christian Kofane at the end of the campaign, as per his agent.

The Cameroonian caught the eye during the round of 16 Champions League ties against Arsenal where he was a standout performer.

His progress has impressed manager Mikel Arteta. Fofane's representative has now confirmed that the Gunners are in pole position to sign the striker.

The Gunners have already made contact with the player's camp, but won't open talks with Leverkusen until the end of the ongoing campaign.

Arsenal are focused on winning a long-awaited league title, and don't want any unwanted disruptions between now and the end of the season.

The Gunners are not alone in the mix for the teenager with Newcastle United and Barcelona having also contacted the player's entourage.

Fofane is widely expected to leave Leverkusen in the summer. He could be purchased for a package of around €60m in the next window.
