Arsenal nearing total agreement for 28yo star

Arsenal are on the verge of signing Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimaraes this summer, according to journalist David Ornstein.

The Gunners have been hot on the trail of the Brazilian for the last few weeks and are now close to reaching a total agreement with the Magpies.

Guimaraes is presently in Spain with the Magpies for pre-season training, but he will soon travel to London to undergo his medical examination.

A package worth £80 million including add-ons has been agreed for the 28-year-old, who has already finalised personal terms with the Gunners.

The Gunners have so far made two new signings in Christos Tzolis and Illan Meslier, and Guimaraes looks poised to join in the next few days.

Arsenal are not done yet in the transfer window, and could pursue a marquee left winger. Real Madrid's Vinicius is the prime transfer target.

A new centre-back is likely to be signed too following the setback for William Saliba, who is out for several months with a back injury.
