Xabi Alonso pushing to sign Arsenal midfielder

Chelsea manager Xabi Alonso has his sights on signing Arsenal midfielder Martin Zubimendi this summer, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Blues are exploring the transfer market for a marquee midfielder with the prospect of Enzo Fernandez heading for the exit door this summer.

Fernandez is on the radar of Manchester City and the Cityzens could intensify their pursuit once Rodri makes the switch to Barcelona this month.

Amid this, Mundo Deportivo claim that Alonso has been a huge admirer of Zubimendi since managing Real Madrid in La Liga.

He has not given up on landing the 27-year-old and has urged the Blues to make an approach for his services before the window closes.

Arsenal seem open to parting ways with Zubimendi after the purchase of Bruno Guimaraes, but he won't be sold on the cheap too.
