Mikel Arteta lavishes praise on 'outstanding' Arsenal star

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta heaped praise on playmaker Martin Odegaard following his man of the match performance against Chelsea in the Premier League.

Odegaard has been in superb form for the Gunners this campaign, and he scored his third goal of the season in the 2-1 comeback win over the Blues on Sunday.

Speaking after the game, Arteta could not hide his praise for the club captain. The manager said he was outstanding and enjoying his football at this stage of his career.

He said: "I think he is enjoying his football. His personal life is settled, he is available, he is training, he has his routine and if he is intelligent, he can take a lot of benefits from the players around him. I think he was outstanding today."

Odegaard had a tough 2025/26 season hampered by multiple injuries, but he has managed to stay unscathed in the early stages of the new campaign.

The Norwegian was brilliant at the World Cup with four assists and has carried over the form to the Gunners, scoring three goals in four games.
