Arsenal striker returns early after hamstring injury

Arsenal striker Kai Havertz has returned early from international duty after sustaining a hamstring injury while playing for Germany against the Netherlands yesterday.

The 27-year-old sustained the setback in the opening half of the Nations League encounter, and he was substituted in the 30th minute of the game.

Germany have since released him from the camp and he will undergo further examination with the Gunners. The concern is reportedly said to be minor.

Arsenal don't return to league action until the 10th of October. The Gunners host Leeds United at the Emirates Stadium where they will aim to return to winning ways.

With Havertz on the sidelines, the door could open for Viktor Gyokeres to make his first start of the Premier League campaign against the Whites.

The Swede has cut a frustrated figure on the bench with the lack of league minutes this campaign and may get the chance to redeem himself soon.

Gyokeres is presently on Nations League duty with his country.
