Barry eyes Liverpool move

Aston Villa have revealed that midfielder Gareth Barry has indicated he will probably seek a move away from Birmingham to join Rafa Benitez's Liverpool after their long pursuit for his signature.

In a statement Barry's club Aston Villa said: "Gareth Barry has stated in discussions with our manager he would like to leave Aston Villa to join Liverpool. But Liverpool's bid for the player has been rejected.

“They have been informed of Villa's continued position in this matter."
