Mikel Arteta confirms Arsenal fitness issue after Liverpool win

Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has revealed that Eberechi Eze had a fitness issue ahead of the Premier League clash against Liverpool on the road yesterday.

The Gunners returned to winning ways with a 1-0 victory over the Reds at Anfield. Kai Havertz scored the only goal of the game in the 16th minute.

It was the club's first win at the stadium in 14 years and speaking after the game, Arteta was asked about the selection of Christos Tzolis ahead of Eze.

In response, the Spanish tactician said that he was impressed by Tzolis' energy in training after injury and he was convinced to play him in the XI.

He added that Eze sustained a minor knock in the lead-up to the game and it was somewhat of a miracle that he was deemed fit to make the squad.

The Gunners have moved to the top of the league standings with the victory. They are now three points ahead of Manchester City.
