Spurs close in on Gomes

Tottenham are reportedly edging closer to a £7 million deal for Brazilian and PSV Eindhoven goalkeeper Huerelho Gomes. Paul Robinson looks set to move to Aston Villa.

Gomes, 27, has played for Brazil and conceded only 24 league goals last season with PSV. Gomes made his name at Cruzeiro in Brazil before moving to PSV in 2004 where he has won four Dutch titles.

Tottenham boss Juande Ramos has been on the look out for a long term successor to Paul Robinson, and the move will come as big news for Spurs fans.
