According to the Italian sports daily Corriere dello Sport, AS Roma are desperate to sign Julio Cesar Baptista from Real Madrid and shall table a bid soon.

Baptista had a frustrating season in 2007-2008 as after a decent start and a terrific middle course, the Beast fell out of favour at the Bernabeu and did not start a single league match after March.

There is speculation that Real Madrid coach Bernd Schuster does not want him anymore and that the club are eager to offload him for a good amount of cash.

Roma on the other hand are eager to have some bite in their midfielder and coach Luiciano Spaletti is said to be a huge admirer of the Brazilian international versatile midfielder.

There are reports in Italy that Roma would splash out as much as 13 million euros for the player. Baptista recently rejected a huge offer from Turkish giants Galatasaray and it is believed that he did so to move to Rome.
