Arshavin To Join Arsenal?

Zenit St. Petersburg striker Andrei Arshavin has now been speculated to join Arsenal instead of FC Barcelona.

The 27-year old Russian international striker made a huge name for himself at the recently concluded Euro 2008 finals in Austria and Switzerland and has since been touted to join one of the several major clubs trying to hook themselves to his coat-tails.

So much so that Spanish giants FC Barcelona even launched a 12 million euro bid for the player but that offer was rejected by Zenit who want more cash. Although Arshavin had till then remarked how he would love to play for the Blaugranas, he has since shifted his heart.

And now according to his agent, Andrei Arshavin now wants a move to Premiership giants Arsenal. Lachter is quoted as saying in the Daily Mirror that the Russian hotshot is “desperate” to join the Gunners, thereby issuing a virtual come-and-get me plea.

He said:

"Andrei is desperate to join Arsenal.

"His style of play would suit them perfectly."
