Arsenal chase Mikael Chretien

Arsenal are believed to be ready to sign talented Nancy defender Michael Basser Chretien for a fee in the region of 6 million GBP. Arsene Wenger has apparently grown frustrated with the form of his defensive pairing, Kolo Toure and William Gallas, and is now bringing in the Moroccan international.

The 24 year old is regarded by many to be among some of the best defenders in Ligue 1, and is desperate to make a move to the Premiership after a series of glowing performances.

Arsenal had been monitoring his progress at the French minnows for over one year, and could now make another shock January transfer deadline day signing.
