Ferguson: we DO want Tevez

The rumours that Carlos Tevez is no longer wanted by Man Utd are not true, according to boss Sir Alex Ferguson. It is understood that Fergie has offered the Argentinian a new contract; despite rumours that he is not interested in signing the player on a long-term basis.

Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson revealed: “I have had a chat with Carlos and he knows I want him to stay.

“Our chief executive David Gill has also had a good meeting to progress things further. I hope we can get what we want, which has never changed.

“The thing is we are not negotiating with a football club. But he has been offered a good deal, which we hope he accepts.”
