Beckham back in training

David Beckham, out since an injury on August the 29th, is set to return to training with MLS side MLS Galaxy. It marked the England midfielder's first practice with Galaxy since he sprained his right knee in the Galaxy's SuperLiga final loss to Mexican club Pachuca on Aug 29.

It had been expected that the injury would keep him out for 10 weeks - the rest of the MLS season, but Beckham has said he is determined to make it back before the end of the campaign.

His appearance in training came just a day after Beckham returned to California from London, where he visited his ill father, Ted, over the weekend.

In Beckham's absence, the Galaxy have won three games in a row in MLS action, putting themselves back on the fringes of the playoff picture.

They are six points behind Chicago with a game in hand in the race for the final berth. The Galaxy have four regular-season games remaining, concluding their campaign at Chicago on October 21 in what could be the decisive game.

Regardless of whether Beckham returns in time to help them make one final push, Friday's announcement of the England squad to play Estonia on October 13 will come too soon for Beckham.
