City eyeing winter Davies deal

Manchester City have reportedly earmarked Tottenham Hotspur's Ben Davies as their top target this month. The Wales international has made just three league starts for Spurs this season.

Davies, 23, has been a regular on the substitutes' bench this term with manager Mauricio Pochettino preferring to stick with Danny Rose at left-back.

Pep Guardiola's side are on the search for a versatile defender in the market and Davies has been identified as the ideal player to join.

Davies played as a centre-half for Wales in a back five at the European championships, and his abilities have captured the attention of the Catalan tactician.

According to The Sun, the Citizens are prepared to lure the Welshman to the Etihad in January after previous target and Bayern Munich ace Holger Badstuber opted to join Schalke 04 on a short-term loan.

It is added that Spurs would be willing to discuss a transfer agreement for the ex-Swansea star, provided they can find a suitable replacement during the transfer window.

Davies, who has been also associated with Chelsea, has recently suggested that he is content with his stay at White Hart Lane.
