Klopp's surprise goalkeeping target
Liverpool have struggled to find a goalkeeper to consistently perform and claim the number one position in recent years. As he plans to strengthen for next season, Jurgen Klopp has identified a shock Premier League goalkeeper as a target.
French news outlet Telefoot has claimed that Liverpool are lining up a possible move for Crystal Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda. The French goalkeeper hasn't had the best first season in the Premier League, picking up a knee injury in November, following a string of uncertain performances. Since then, the good form of Wayne Hennessey and a change of management have seen Mandanda watch from the sidelines.
Despite this season's form, Mandanda has great quality. Twice voted Marseille's player of the season, he made three hundred appearances for the French Ligue 1 club. He has also made twenty four appearances for the French national side.
The reports suggest that Jurgen Klopp will target Mandanda to challenge Simon Mignolet for the number one position at Anfield. This will raise a few eyebrows with Liverpool fans, who might prefer a move for the likes of Joe Hart instead.
