Arsenal ready to sign '2 or 3 players'

27 August 2011 - 06:07

Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger is hoping to bring in at least two players before the transfer window closes next week. The Gunners have been reportedly chasing Gary Cahill and Lucho Gonzalez. The sales of Cesc Fabregas and Samir Nasri leaves Arsene Wenger with a transfer kitty of over 50m GBP.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Early season suspensions to Gervinho, Alex Song and Emmanuel Frimpong have hurt Wenger's preparations for the new seasons so far.

However, with qualification for the Champions League guaranteed, the Gunners are ready to spend cash to bring in some new faces.

Wenger said: "I will try to strengthen the squad in depth because at the moment we are a bit short number-wise, but if we get two or three players in we have the quality to challenge.

"I am confident as well because we have some good young players who can make a big step very quickly."
