Fulham and Blackburn battle for Gignac

Fulham and Blackburn battle for Gignac

31 August 2011 - 15:13

Fulham and Blackburn are both hoping to sign French international striker Pierre-Alain Gignac, who has fallen out with Marseille officials and looking to leave the club.

  • Chelsea defender on his way to Leeds United?
  • Chelsea ready to hand Nicolas Jackson fresh chance
  • Marseille put Gignac in extra training after the summer after he returned a little overweight; but it seems the French striker has decided to leave instead of spend the season with l'OM.

Gignac is expected to be in London this afternoon to discuss personal terms with Fulham, whilst his representatives are also in contact with Blackburn.

"I understand he is abroad," Marseille club coach Guy Stephan confirmed.

"There are negotiations currently ongoing, but we need all three parties [two clubs and player] to agree. Maybe it will or will not happen."
