Alan Pardew won't quit Newcastle

06 September 2011 - 15:10

Newcastle manager Alan Pardew has denied reports that he is considering quitting St James' Park, and assistant manager John Carver has shed some light on Pardew's situation.

  • Chelsea ready new contract for star midfielder
  • Chelsea make first move to sign Xabi Alonso
  • After Newcastle's failure to land a top striker in the transfer window; several bookmakers slashed the odds on Pardew to quit the Newcastle job.

However, his assisant John Carver said: "Why is his position in doubt?

"This has been a good start for us. We have picked up seven points from three matches and we are into the third round of the Carling Cup. We are going in the right direction.

"If you had told people we would have what we have now, they would have snapped your hands off.

"How can people question the position of the manager? It's absurd."
