England quartet on FIFA list

Four England players have been named on FIFA's shortlist for the World Player of the Year award. Wayne Rooney, John Terry, Frank Lampard and Steven Gerrard have all been included in a list of 30 players drawn up by FIFA's technical committee.

AC Milan striker Kaka is a favorite but it appears Lionel Messi is being considered as a late favorite for winning the award.



Premiership side Chelsea have the second most nominees - five - behind Barcelona who have seven - while five Italians including current world player of the year Fabio Cannavaro also make it into the final 30.
