Arsenal still keen on M'Vila

04 October 2011 - 10:16

Arsenal are still interested in signing Rennes midfield enforcer Yann M'Vila in January, after a failed bid in the summer.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • With Jack Wilshere out of action for five months, the Arsenal midfield has lacked solidity and Arsene Wenger wants to plug this midfield gap.

The Gunners failed to sign M'Vila in the summer, with a bid of over €25 million being rejected. However, after a disastrous start to the season, Arsenal don't mind breaking their transfer record to sign the France international.

Although M'Vila is contracted to Rennes till 2015, it is believed that he is intent on joining Arsenal, and his sale in the summer was denied simply because Rennes did not have the time to bring in a suitable replacement.

It is believed that till January, Wenger will rotate youngsters Francis Coquelin and Emmanuel Frimpong with the existing midfield trio of Song, Ramsey and Arteta.
