06 October 2011 - 00:59

Chelsea will let Alex leave Stamford Bridge this January and join Juventus, according to reports from Italy. In an exclusive report, eyefootball understands that Juventus have been locked in discussions with the Blues regarding a move for the Brazilian centre back.

  • Alex has fallen down the pecking order at Chelsea since the arrive of David Luiz last year, and the preferred partnership of John Terry and Branislav Ivanovic sees Alex as 4th choice centre back.

Juventus have already offered 6.5m GBP for the Brazilian, around 1.5m short of the amount Chelsea are looking for.

Atletico Madrid's defender Diego Godin had been the alternative should a move for Alex fall through, but eyefootball.com today understands that Juventus' most recent offer is a step closer to Chelsea's valuation, and the club will now let the Brazilian leave the club.

Alex still has a contract at Stamford Bridge until 2013.
