Roma ready to bid for Rio Ferdinand

Roma ready to bid for Rio Ferdinand

26 October 2011 - 05:33

Roma could make a surprise offer for Rio Ferdinand come January, as the England international has reportedly fallen out with boss Sir Alex Ferguson.

  • Fabrizio Romano updates on Nicolas Jackson's future at Chelsea
  • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
  • Ferdinand had been heavily criticised after the game with Man City last weekend, with the centre back being labelled as "past it" by some corners of the media.

However, Roma are ready to make a surprise bid for the defender, with an 8m GBP bid being considered.

United already have added Phil Jones to their squad last year in preparation for Rio Ferdinand's eventual retirement. Many consider Jones to be the natural successor for both club and country.
