Tottenham will make a move for Ajax defender Jan Vertonghen once the January transfer window reopens. The highly rated centre back has been linked with a move to Arsenal, but Spurs are apparently winning the race for his signature.
According to a report from Holland, Vertonghen is ready to quit the Eredivisie for the Premier League in January and prefers a move to London.
Spurs manager Harry Redknapp has been tracking Vertonghen for over a year as he looks to find a long term replacement for injury ravaged Ledley King.
The defender has been likened to his international centre back partner, Thomas Vermaelen.
