Jermain Defoe eyes Tottenham stay

25 November 2011 - 11:04

Tottenham forward Jermain Defoe wants to stay at White Hart Lane for time being, despite the England striker being linked with a move away from the club in January. QPR have been linked with a move.

  • Arsenal linked with new shotstopper as backup to Raya
  • Juventus and Roma to battle for 20yo Arsenal star

  • Spurs' on loan striker Emmanuel Adebayor appears to be Harry Redknapp's number one choice up front, pairing with the attacking midfield

"Fans who have probably read things come up to me every day and say, 'Don't leave the club'. I was at a charity dinner the other night when a fan came up and said it to me," Defoe revealed in the Daily Mirror.

"I've done it before - when I went to Portsmouth and scored my goals to remind people what I can do - but I am committed to Tottenham. I love the club and I love the fans.

"It's a really important time for the club. Everyone wants to play their part and I'm no different."

QPR had been linked with a 10m GBP move in January, bankrolled by new owner Tony Fernandes.
