Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson slammed assistant referee John Flynn after a contentious penalty decision given to Newcastle that rescued a point for the Toon. Demba Ba sent home the penalty to share the spoils.

Sir Alex Ferguson was left fuming at full time after his side dropped a crucial three points in their race to catch Manchester City at the top of the Premier League.<br />

Referee John Flynn insisted that Rio Ferdinand brought down Newcastle winger Hatem Ben Arfa during the game. Subsequently, a penalty decision was given, and Demba Ba scored.<br />

Ferguson said:&nbsp;"The referee thought it was a corner and he was nearer to the incident. It was an absolute travesty.<br />

"The problem is that assistants are not full-time even if the referees are.<br />

"I don't think anyone in the ground thought it was a penalty apart from the assistant referee."
