England have been given some hugely important news for their crucial Euro 2008 qualifier at Russia as it appears John Terry has stepped even closer to a return from injury. Terry missed Saturday's 3-0 victory over Estonia at Wembley with a knee injury picked up in training during the week.

  • Terry has reportedly told McClaren his is ready to play on Wednesday, although the Chelsea medical staff are believed to be seeking assurances from their England counterparts that their skipper is ready to return.



    England boss Steve McLaren said: He said. "He is a lot better than he was on Thursday.



    "He will be assessed over the next few days and the decision will be made on Monday as to whether he will travel to Moscow with us.



    "There's still hope, knowing John Terry. We're buoyed by that and trying everything possible to get him fit and ready."
