Wigans Whelan expects Liverpool Martinez offer

Wigan's Whelan expects Liverpool Martinez offer

25 May 2012 - 15:50

Wigan chairman David Whelan thinks that Liverpool's owners Fenway may have already offered the vacant Reds job to Roberto Martinez. The Spaniard is currently in Miami discussing a potential move to Anfield.

  • Chelsea set to sign Crystal Palace star for £47m
  • Man Utd aiming to beat Liverpool to 25yo midfielder
  • Whelan suspects that Martinez may already have received an offer from Liverpool to take over from Kenny Dalglish.

"He had a meeting on Thursday with the owner of Liverpool in Miami," Whelan told BBC Sport. "I think they have made some kind of offer.

"They will speak again on Tuesday. I've said I want a decision by Thursday."
