Chelsea win race for Eden Hazard signature

28 May 2012 - 11:09

Chelsea have reportedly agreed personal terms with Belgium international Eden Hazard. The Lille winger has been locked in talks with a number of Premier League clubs this year, but it appears the Blues have won the race for his coveted signature.

  • Chelsea planning shock move for Man City winger?

  • Eden Hazard set a deadline for this week to make a decision for his next move, and Manchester City and Chelsea both made offers for the winger.

Sir Alex Ferguson and Manchester United are also believed to have made a late offer for the Belgian.

However, Chelsea's Champions League success appears to have helped Hazard make his decision, as he will now help the Blues regain the Premier League title from next year.

Chelsea have already released Salomon Kalou and are expected to part ways with Florent Malouda this summer, whilst Didier Drogba has also played his last game for the club. That leaves the Blues short of attacking options, despite the acquisition of Marko Marin.

According to reports, Hazard will join Chelsea for a massive 28.5 million GBP, and will put pen to paper on a five year contract at Stamford Bridge.
