Wenger confident on Wilshere new deal

27 November 2012 - 13:12

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is confident that Jack Wilshere will not follow the lead of Samir Nasri and Cesc Fabregas in recent seasons and head for the Emirates exit door; and is certain that the England midfielder will put pen to paper on a fresh deal.

 • Wilshere still has two years remaining on his current contract, but Arsene Wenger is understandably concerned about the prospect of losing one of his best young starlets, as so far the Gunners have failed to reach an agreement with another youngster, Theo Walcott; who is reportedly being courted by the likes of Chelsea and Liverpool.
Wilshere has burst onto the scene in the last two years, and after a lengthy lay off through injury looks to be returning to his best form; as soon against Montpellier in the Champions League last week when the Englishman scored a goal.
"Jack has always been very committed to this club and I hope he will show that," said his manager, Wenger. "There is only one way to show that and that is to commit your long-term future to the club. He still has two-and-a-half years left, which is quite a long time."
