Liverpool ready to swoop for Daniel Sturridge

28 November 2012 - 06:36

Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers is hopeful that his club can persuade Chelsea to sell out of favour striker Daniel Sturridge. The Reds have been chasing the England international since last summer, and are planning to make a renewed offer for the striker.

 • Arsenal suffer big injury blow ahead of Fulham game
 • Liverpool are currently short on striking options this year after Andy Carroll moved to West Ham on loan for the season; leaving Luis Suarez one of their only striking options.
Brendan Rodgers is hoping that the arrival of Rafa Benitez will trigger Chelsea into a quick sale, but the Blues also appear to have striking problems of their own as Fernando Torres continues to struggle to find form.
“You never know when new managers go into clubs, but we will see what happens over the course of the market for us,” said Rodgers.
“Hopefully we can get a few in. Obviously Ian Ayre has been dealing with transfer stuff in the background and doing a great job along with the recruitment team.”
