Chelsea plotting shock Luka Modric move

12 January 2013 - 10:15

Chelsea's Russian chairman Roman Abramovich has instructed club advisors to make an offer for Real Madrid's out of favour midfielder Luka Modric. The Blues almost signed Luka Modric last season, but he instead chose to quit former club Tottenham for a move to Spain.

  • Chelsea midfielder looking forward to London derby vs Spurs
  • Arsenal in the front row to sign Dutch striker

  • Rumours suggest that Modric is very unhappy in Spain and wants a return to England, meanwhile current Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has not played Modric as much as the Croatian wanted when he first made the move to the Bernebeu.

There also remains question marks over the long term future of club manager Mourinho, who has been linked with a move to the Premier League at the end of the season.

Modric would be available for around £24 million, according to reports from Spain.
